Alejandro Brittes interprets chamamé, a genre forged of Baroque and Indigenous Guaraní influences in the Jesuit Missions of southern South America.

Chamamé has been declared as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Brazil-based Argentine composer, accordionist, and researcher Alejandro Brittes explores his chamamé heritage. He works with ensembles to perform repertoire from his original “(L)Este” concert. Brittes recently toured the U.S. in 2024 being featured at Stanford Live, TOArts, Music in Corrales, San José Jazz, etc.

He has collaborated with international ensembles such as: Orquestra Sinfônica de Mato Grosso do Sul, Camerata Del Sol, among others, given masterclasses at institutions such as Georgetown, UT El Paso, etc. and has been commissioned to produce performances by Americas Society (NYC). The trio is formed of Alejandro Brittes (accordion), André Ely (seven-stringed guitar), Carlos de Césaro (contrabass).
