Event Details

El Camino de San Antonio is delighted to announce the month-long “Christmas at the Missions” celebration of the season of Advent and Christmas focusing on the traditions of the San Antonio Missions and other Catholic communities in the Archdiocese. The celebration starts the first Monday of Advent and ends the last Saturday of the Christmas Season, from Monday, December 5th to Saturday, January 7th.

Christmas from Around the World Exhibit The Padre Margil Center will showcase beautiful nativity scenes that open a window to the rich tapestry of Catholic traditions at the Mission churches and beyond. They tell a unique story of faith, culture, and the joy of the Christmas season.

Christmas at the Missions Event Calendar:

December 5 – January 7: Christmas from Around the World Exhibit at the Padre Margil Pilgrimage Center

Saturday, December 9: Matachine Pilgrimage of San Juan Diego. Beginning a 7 am at Mission San Juan and ending with an 8:30 am outdoor Mass at Mission Espada.

Sunday, December 10: Matachine Festival at The El Camino Campus. 1:00 pm-5:00 pm, the festival hosted by Mission Concepción with  Matachine Dance Troupes, Food Booths, Fair Trade items, and Music.

Saturday, December 16: Posada at Mission Concepción at 6:00 pm.

Sunday, December 17: La Gran Posada at San Fernando Cathedral. The procession begins at 6:00 pm in Milam Park and ends at 8:00 pm with Christmas Music at San Fernando Cathedral.

Wednesday, December 20: Grand Posada at Mission San Jose.

Saturday, January 7: Christmas from Around the World Exhibit closes.
