The San Antonio summers can be brutally hot. Parts of the trail have no shade and temperatures are often over 100 degrees.

    • Begin your walk early. Temperatures can reach 100 degrees by noon.
    • Know your limits. Prepare for sun and heat. Wear sunscreen, hats, insect repellent and appropriate clothing and hiking shoes. Bring a first aid kit.
    • Heatstroke can kill. Wear appropriate clothing so you can adjust to temperature changes.
    • Drink plenty of water. Your body loses fluid quickly when you are on the trail. Bring a quart of water per hour of activity. Eat a salty snack to maintain energy and avoid illness.

By registering for the El Camino de San Antonio pilgrimage, you are accepting the risks associated with walking the El Camino Trail. You may be exposed to a variety of hazards and risks, foreseen or unforeseen, which are inherent in walking the pilgrimage trail and cannot be eliminated and may result in serious injury or even death.

By submitting this form, and with full knowledge of these dangers, I hereby agree for myself and my family to RELEASE El Camino de San Antonio Inc. and the Archdiocese of San Antonio from liability, claims, demands or any causes of action and assume the risk and full responsibility for any personal injuries, including injuries resulting in death, which might occur. I agree to be solely responsible for my own safety and to take every precaution to provide for my own safety and well-being while participating in the El Camino de San Antonio pilgrimage.
